I’m Here

Today was a long day, but well worth it. My flight arrived at about 2 PM local time, one hour late thanks to a drunk French girl that got kicked of my plane at JFK airport. Always being prepared (I mean that sarcastically), I didn’t have any Euros on me when I arrived and the two currency exchange places I passed at Charles de Gaulle were closed. Luckily I found an ATM as the train ticket kiosk to Paris didn’t except my debit card. I finally arrived at my apartment at around 4 PM and connected with my landlord. Hamid, my landlord, is rad. He took me for a tour of the neighborhood showing me where my grocery store was and informing me not to eat at the brasserie across the street if I didn’t want to get sick. After my tour he took me to the metro station to help me obtain my monthly metro card which I can use throughout the city and to get to Versailles on the weekends. When we got back to the apartment he gave me a map of the city and circled locations I may want to check out. In addition, he gave a bottle of bordeaux that I am drinking while I write this. My apartment is great. It has everything I need for my stay and it’s clean. The photograph attached to this post is the view from my balcony, I couldn’t be more stoked. I have now decompressed a little and taken a shower. I am off to watch the US play Belgium, my next update will be tomorrow. Cheers, George
